After days of toil and sweat, I have finally got a client's 9.2 dev install working.

Now for the fun part. We are happily liking the V9 changes and generally happy that this can be a powerful product. We are currently liking local form variables which make like so much easier.

I am trying to create a business object that looks up a supplier table and returns all values based on a wildcard search. Under normal circumstances this would not be an issue, create a parameter for the business object and when the object is dragged on to the form, we can set our local form variable to be the wildcard search term, like this

"%" + Local.SearchString + "%"

So far so good, or so it would seem. Problem is that all of our Oracle databases are case sensitive. When I create a parameter I the And clause is forced into being

SupplierName Is Like @txtSearch which evaluates to something like WHERE SupplierName LIKE '%test%'

The problem is that I want my where clause to evaluate to WHERE LOWER(SupplierName) LIKE LOWER('%test%')

I do not seem to be able to force the SupplierName search to take place in lower case, when editing in the business object table filter section.

Has anyone come up with a solution to this?

Thanks

Hmmmm. Seems that the Buisness Object is set up as a table object by default. The BO needs to be setup as a Query parameter to allow one to use. We learn something new every day.

There is a whole lot to learn in version 9. It took me about three months to get the hag of it, and even today (after three years) I am still finding a few new ways to use it.
