Controlling Visibility of a Form Segment

Last edited: 21 Sep 2005

The information in this article applies to product: e-Work 6.x

Issue

  • A form uses form segments contained in 1 or more libraries. Is it possible to control the visibility of an individual form segment?

Resolution

  • No, this is not possible. Once a procedure is published, the form segments do not exist as separate entities - they are merged with the form that uses them. Visibility can only be set for individual fields using 'Visibility depends on' or by setting the field usage to 'hidden'.

I typically approach the same sort of thing by creating a calculated checkbox field on the form segments, and setting dependency of everything based on this checkbox. The checkbox will calculate based on the condition that you would have applied on the form to indicate if the form segment should show. Potentially super-impose multiple form segments on top of each other...
