On the server side, I can read a datetime variable by doing something like this (example in Jscript)

var mydatetimestr = ework.deadline;

The problem with this is that it appears get return as a string. The format is currently something like 'mm/dd/yyyy", but what determines the date format. If I was using some other DB, would it get return in some other date format? What's the best way to convert this into a Jscript date type?

I suppose I can do something like this:

 var mydatetime = new Date(ework.deadline);

I am afraid that ework.deadline will be return in some format that Jscript's Date can't parse, or get incorrect format because it turned dd/mm/yyy and got interpreted as mm/dd/yyyy.
