Hi All,

We are experiencing some problem in starting our deployment service.
It gives us an error but not giving us enough details to work on in the event viewer:

Metastorm BPM details

Version: 9.1.2.2

OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise

DB: SQL Server 2008 R2

Configuration: Split type - 2 Web server | 2 Engine | 1 Database
Environment: Production

Error Details

The "Metastorm Deployment Service" from the services on our 2 engine servers won't start.

It gives us the following error below on the Event Viewer:

 1.png

Level

Source

Event ID

Message:

Error

Service Control Manager

7000

The Metastorm Deployment Service service failed to start due to the following error:

The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Error

Service Control Manager

7009

A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the Metastorm Deployment Service service to connect.

Additional Details:

·         Last successful deployment was 25th of October 2013. No issues on starting the deployment service

·         We also tried restarting the server itself but still not effect.

·         No recent configuration changes was made on Metstorm BPM

·         Please see attached related config files for deployment service.

·         Also Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service is started which we believe is a dependency of the "Metastorm Deployment service" Also port 9000 was checked via telnet and was sucessful

Do you have any idea on where we might look or investigate to resolve this issue?

I would not rely on that version. Either the latest version of 9.1 or 9.3 are the only ones I'll begin to trust.

Hi Jerome,

Thanks for the advise. We will defnitely consider upgrading.
Aside from your concern on the version we have, do you have any other suggestion on how we can resolve this?

Sorry, no. I had so very many problems with different versions, especially with the Designer. Sometimes it just stopped even working at all. I have never seen this particular problem that I recall, however.

You can try deleting all the temporary directories lying about. These are documented here somewhere.

I would also consider an uninstall and reinstall, but make sure temporary directors are deleted as well. This seems to be the default workaround.

Hi Jerome,

We have figured out to workaround the issue. There was no issue on the deployment service configuration or anything else. It was just how the deployment services was started on the server. The server is not giving it enough time to start it properly so we adjusted the default setting of 30 seconds to 60 seconds and the issue was resolved.

This is the link we did to resolve the issue: http://www.itgeekdiary.com/increase-the-service-timeout-period/
