The only [supportable] approach I can think of, which is probably not ideal, is to have two grids ... one which allows insert and one which doesn't ... and enable/activate the applicable grid in each action.

You will get unpredictable results (I predict). As you will have two grids linked to the same recordset, changes in one will easily be overwritten by the other. I am willing to bet that Metastorm would not be able to guarantee the results.

Having said that, setting the 'other' grid to 'hidden' my work. I am slightly dubious as the form is stored as a blob (ie generated at design time). It does depend how the engine interprets the form on submit. It would need to be tested well before I was confident, anyway.

Thanks Jerome/Mellert for the response,

I just want to disable addition of new row in the grid...However user would still be able to edit the grid in the action. Just wanted to figure out if we can somehow hide the (+) button or that entire top header of the grid where it lies.

Thanks..!

Or perhaps to get around the "two grids updating" possible issue ... though this is a pain at best ... have two forms otherwise identical (perhaps via form segments) where one grid allows insert and the other doesn't allow insert and assign to actions as appropriate.  A pain at best, minimized if using form segments though still not perfect, but if show/hide doesn't work quite right this may get around it.

Thanx Mellert,

Catch is that while User is not allowed to insert but he can still perform the update on the Grid.
So have to use the editable grid.

As a work around, have used a "Rule" and placed it ovelapping (bring in front) the header of the grid where (+)(X) options are available. And have make it visible in an action where user should only perform update. This way have restricted user onclicking ("Insert","delete").

Kindly let know about this approach.

Thanks... :)
