There has been an interesting debate on the Column 2 website regarding the ability to convert Metastorm ProVision models into Metastorm BPM maps. It started here:
http://www.column2.com/2007/08/metastorm-acquires-proforma/ Prompted by the assertion that I asked
Today customers are sharing models between ProVisionEA/BPA and Metastorm BPM
There was one response that seems to back up my assertion that it is very difficult to do.
Can anyone actually show me a design in ProVision that has been converted to Metastorm BPM using the provided Exchange tool?
The post was then moved to a new page posing my question: http://www.column2.com/2007/11/getting-metastorm-bpm-and-provision-to-work-together/#comment-6931 This seems to have prompted one visitor to declaim me (I think anyway, I am not really sure) by quoting extracts from my own articles on the subject, and one other to agree that the two concepts are too different. We are very interested to see a working example, as this is something we believe is the main benefit of using the two tools together. If the product lived up to the hype, that would be great. My view is that it does not, but I am more than willing to change that if it can be proved otherwise. So, my question remains, has anyone used this conversion utility effectively, as is being claimed? __________________ Post an example, and we will have a much better idea what the problem is.
