A number of our customers are finding out that their support contracts are going up every year by 10%. It was never in the original contracts, and it opens the door to an ever-increasing and uncontrollable revenue leak, we feel.

Is anyone at all concerned by this?

A couple of customers have complained, and Metastorm have backed down. I would suggest anyone who has any concerns should take this up with Metastorm. It is the only way you can stop it. I would also suggest you examine your existing contract to see if this is in there, and also examine very carefully any new contract you may be asked to agree to.

At that rate, the service we provide to convert any Metastorm BPM procedure to a WWF and .Net system will become ever more attractive!

The IPO was redrawn. Metastorm still needs money to do parts of their business plan.

I've heard rumours about a price increase as well.

Jerome, could you please share on what you're doing with WWF and .NET?

I could, but I'd have to kill you.....

But seriously, we have not yet finalised the structure, but the idea is we can perform the conversion for you. Cost will be on the size of procedure, naturally. We are not sure what the interest would be. The more interest there is, the faster we'll work on formalising it.

It is an obvious choice where the UI limitation require separate UI development, thee is a lot of .net integration, or there is little UI to start with.

We are actually getting rid of some workflows as we used BPM and developed our own process management routine within it - so we are actually reducing the number of workflows we use, which is a good approach especially if you have to move across later on.

We are moving towards a Sharepoint environment so there is some definite movement here.

LJ, are you using Windows Workflow in Sharepoint? If so, I'd love to hear about your experiences, since that's something that interests us a lot. WSS is pretty powerful and essentially free if you have a Windows Server license so it's an easy sell to people with limited budgets.

We are not there yet, its a part of our just approved yesterday IT strategy, I will no doubt know a lot more within about 6 months.

If you'd like to come up with some questions I'll see if I can answer them as we go through the process and get back to you on them.

We did a proof of concept of exporting from a BPMN tool to WF in Sharepoint for someone. We didn't get too far with it but I'm just interested how other people do it. For instance, we just used standard SP tasks but I think it would be possible to have your own forms in there which would be cool. I'd be interested to know how easy that is to develop (getting the data into and out of WF is not simple in my experience). I also thought deployment was a bit of a pain but there may be a better way. We aren't exactly experts on Sharepoint so any information on best practices would be useful.

Has anyone used Sharepoint Designer? Could that app be of use when designing workflows or is it just forms?
