Hi,

I am using multi-clip in the form for uploading attachments.
Also I have a SAVE button on the form.

On click of the SAVE button, I want all the documents uploaded by the user to get saved in the database.

Unfortunately, I observe that the attachments are only getting saved on submit of the form.

I am looking for saving uploaded attachments on click of a button.

Kindly need your help on this.

Thanks!

Off the top of my head, make your Save button be a submit type of button, and re-open the form.

I haven't tried this in V9 yet,
but in V7 attachments seems to save as soon as I click the green arrow on the Browse window.  I attached 3 files, then canceled the action ... but the 3 attachments were still attached to my folder.

Thanks BMellert,

I am hidding default submit and cancel and implementing the same using the buttons in the form.

So besides Save. I also have Submit button which has different functionality and on click of SAVE, i am closing the form and folder remains at same stage, data being getting saved(but noluck with attachments)

Regards,
HB

To reopen the form, you'd need to chain the action.

We have something sort of similar in that the edit action is chained to either a "submit" type of action or a "save as draft" (and close) or "reopen to edit".  In that case, on save we determine which action to chain to on submit as a variable and use that value in the Chain To action name.

You "Save" button could set the "save" chained action name which reopens the form, "Submit" is as you do now.

Its an approach we use anyway.

Thanks,

Appologies, if the explaination is incorrect..

In a form instead of having default form Submit and Cancel.. i have two buttons "Submit" and "Cancel" for same operation..(hiding default butons)

Besides these...there is a third button "Save".

Also there is multi-clip control for uploading document.

Suppose user uploads document "File1".

And clicks on "Submit" button. It is found that the entry is made in eAttachment table for that document.

Now lets say had the user didn't click "Submit" but click on "Save" button.

How the uploaded file "File1" shall get saved into the database?

Personally, I would still have the Save button be a submit button which then reopens the form by setting the action name in a variable and have that variable set as the changed action name.  You'd need another action to do as desired calling another action name such as save.

There may be other approaches, but its an approach Iv'e applied before.

Yes, that is the better approach i feel.

Also I tried this to work.
I set a variable on click of Save and submit the form and then let it routed to
System stage to decide the nature of operation being performed.

let the user close the form on Save, no issues in that

I am using Sharepoint DMS in multiclip.
In an action form, if I am browsing and uploading few document there in dms multiclip and if  not submit the action(Cancel or closes the form).

Will the document still be uploaded and visible in sharepoint?
