Hi,

I am wondering what source control system you would suggest for MBPM? Many thanks for your recommendations!

I think anything should be OK. We use an online version of Visual Source Safe. It is great because it is online, but awkward because it is Source Safe!

You have to manually add new files and directories, and manually remove deleted files. I kind of prefer this as it gives me more control, but there are others that do this automatically for you (although not always the way you want).

One important issue I have discovered is that the 'backup' directory can cause issues, unless you keep that (pretty uselessly) backed up too. We so rarely used any backup directory files that we no longer have backups at all (set it to 'none' in the options). It makes saving faster, and also seems to stop the saving errors and file corruptions that we used to occasionally get.

These days I deploy often anyway, as the deployment validation is completely different to the other validation, and often picks up additional faults. I deploy after changing each component, that way I know the component causing a failure to deploy, as the deployment service is very poor at telling you.

We deploy often as well to test, but versions accumulate extremely fast in the database.  The delete version in the Admin form it tedious -- when it works.  Do you have a decent/better way to purge no longer useful versions from the database?

I agree, and this is a problem for me, especially with the eAssembly table getting too large. I also believe that this table is not cleared out by the admin tools.

I did once delete everything in the table, and the redeploy all libraries and projects. That was OK.

I think I'll add a 'clear storage' facility in our Admin Tools. It will be needed, I suspect, and I would be happier using it than doing this manually as I have to date.
