SQL Server Collation Must Match e-Work Database Collation

Last edited: 16 May 2005

The information in this article applies to product: e-Work 5.x 6.x

  1. Client message 'Failed to obtain list' when trying to retrieve To Do or Watch list
  2. Application event log: ErrorCode: '-2147217900' Description: 'Cannot resolve collation conflict for equal to operation.'
Source: 'Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server' SQL State: '42000' NativeErrorCode: '446'
  3. Application event log: ErrorCode: '265929' Description: 'No more results.' Source: 'Provider' SQL State: ' ' NativeErrorCode: '265929'

  • For #s 1, 2: When e-Work uses a SQL Server 7 or SQL Server 2000 database, the collation of the SQL Server database must be the same as that of the e-Work database.
  • For #s 1, 3: Run the new e-Work stored procedures against the database. These can be found at <drive>:\Program Files\Metastorm e-Work\Engine\Database or on the e-Work CD. For SQL Server, run eWorkProcedures.sql. For Oracle, run eWorkTypes.sql, eWorkPackage.sql, and eWorkProcedures.sql in that order. See the e-Work Installation Guide for more details.

Keywords: kb446

Post an example, and we will have a much better idea what the problem is. In about 90% of posts, the problem is one of communication. Examples bridge that gap.
