I have a 9.1 solution.  From a button we are calling a server script which calls a RESTful Java web service.  The code actually creates a System.Net.Webclient to execute the request and process the response.

The web service is internal but within another group in IT.  The problem is, when this service is down or busy, it seems to bring down the entire engine.  All other users have to wait for the process to complete before they can do anything.  Anything.

I would suspect that BPM would run each user session in its own thread... but that appears otherwise.

So my only alternative is to create a new thread and run this request within it and kill it if it runs, or queue it for later.

Does anyone have experience / examples in BPM 9.x to this end?

Thanks,
Paul

So this can be closed.  I got a response from Metastorm (OpenText) that this isn't advisable and could create other problems...

I actually traced my problem to another component.  I haven't figured out root cause but at least I've narrowed it down some.
