Is there a nice way for forms to play nice with form segments when it comes to tab order?  It seems like it'll tab (form1, formseg1, form2, formseg2, etc...)

Is this for Version 9? Can you give us an example on how you wish for this to look?

version 9.1.2

If i have a segment up top with the header, name, and date.  then a few other drop downs, text boxes, etc under that, and then another form segment on the bottom that does a search for the user, it will tab all over the place even though the top segment is #1, the inputs in the middle are #2-#n-1, and the bottom segment is #n

There is the "Tab order" function (black icon in the Design tab), if I understand you correctly.

Yes, i'm using the tab order function on each segment as well as on the main form with all segments on it.  My problem is it seems as though it's jumping in and out of segments.

Here's an example of how it's currently tabbing with tabs set properly in metastorm...
There's seg1 and seg7(in terms of tab order on the main page).  Everything else on the form is tab2-tab6.  On each segment there's tab1-tab3.

It is going seg1/tab1, seg7/tab1, form/tab2, seg1/tab2, seg7/tab2, etc...

Almost like it's just looking for the lowest number on each segment/form and going to that instead of doing the top segment, then the form, then the bottom segment.

You are right. I was pleased when they introduce the possibility to set tab order for the form segments, but I also found some discrepancies there (generated tabindex in the client doesn't correlate with the tab order in the designer). Since this function is kind of new, I guess they will fix it in the near future...

Currently i was able to fix it on one form by adding hidden dummy check boxes and matching the numbers of the inputs across the segments and the form.

ie: seg1 has tab1-3, form has tab 4-9, seg2 has tab 10-12

But some of these forms are starting to become very large and i'd rather not have all of these dummy boxes.

Cripes! I just tried it and it is all over the place. See my attached example, with three simple segments. In the Designer the fields should go in order. In the client I typed in 1 to 10 in the order the tab key took me.

There is no rhyme or reason to the actual order. It seems almost completely random. Joe, when you say you fixed it, could you explain a bit? If you have time could you let me know the 'e-workaround' for this example?

Forgive the mspaint example.  This would be the numbering for the main form.  In order to do this, each segment needs to be separate(no 2 segments can be the same).  Also, on each segment, in order to reach these numbers, you need to make a few hidden check boxes.  For example, TAB 10 is the 3rd segment containing tab 11 and 12, in order to reach 11/12 on that segment, you need 10 hidden checkboxes.  This seems to do the trick but it gets really messy on the larger forms.  I'd like to have a real fix for this instead of putting down 20+ checkboxes but it looks to be a metastorm problem.

Hi Joe et al,

we have recently come across this too.  Believe it or not, you can actually end up with duplicate tab orders when using form segments.

We have recently raised this with OpenText BPS support.

If you are using SWiFT, you can specify tab orders (implemented as a work-around for related issues) - just ask us how.

Upgraded to v9.2 and the tab order has been fixed.  If you do not want to go to v9.2 i believe they fixed this in 9.1.3.1
