We have upgraded MBPM 9.1 to 9.2.1.1 and after upgrade developers are not able to access deployement repository using Designer application. The error is realted to deployement service. when I checked the logs, I got the following error:

KeepAlive update failed for this engine. Engine name: NTBPMDEV01$WINNTDOM. Operation: opening database connection. Specified SQL server not found.

ConnectionOpen (Connect()).

However the Deployment and process engine serives are running fine and the connection with the database is also there. I have checked the registry settings and they seems fine to me.

Hello and welcome to the wonderful world of OpenText MBPM (Metastorm) development.

Is it possible that you are try to access the deployment service with an older version of the designer? The designer version needs to be matched with the engine version for deployment to work and be successful.

Hello karl,

Thanks for the warm welcome :)

We are facing lot of issue after our upgrade. Let me tell you, we are using MBPM 9.2.1.1 and the designer version is 9.2.1.2222. So it is updated to the latest version.

Upgrades can be painful in the early days but it does get easier to handle the more experience you get. I would say it was worth going through the upgrade process again to ensure everything is set as it should be and then try again.

You may need to be a little patient as there are lots of things that get set or amended in even a simple hotfix and its often wise to do the upgrade on a dev environment before going for the live one. This way it gives you a chance to make sure that your processes still work after the upgrade before getting caught out with a live deployment.

There are lots of guys, and girls, on here with some very detailed technical skills that will require you to answer lots of detailed questions about your setup and then provide you back an equally detailed response to get you going.

Its a steep learning curve but worth it for the benefits in the end.
