It is pretty much the same as version 7, except does not add a CR to the end after a write.

First check you have access to the file path. if thats fine then look for spaces in the name or try writing to somewhere that doesnt have spaces. Also try using the old 8.3 format and see if that works. Once you get the file writing then try moving it to where you want it.

I am getting

Description:Exception 'Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Documents and Settings\xbbkf91\Desktop\tester\123.dat'.' occurred when attempting to 'Run script'.   I have made sure the folder has full access.

and in the write to file activity I am using
@"C:\Documents and Settings\xbbkf91\Desktop\tester\123.dat"

The 123.dat file doesn't exist as that is the file name I wish to call it. Any help much appreciated !!

Without getting the write to file working, are there any c# examples of emulating what I'm trying to do?

Its the drive on the server you are looking at and you need to know that the account that metastorm run under is applied to that folder and whas write access.

You could try dropping a file in the same location and testing if the read function works from the same source.

Thanks guys... I tried it on a simple process and it worked but not on my process, so rebuilt the process and it then worked. Most frustrating but many thanks for your help.

As an aside is there any documentation anywhere that describes the objects open to you  in Metastorm and examples.. eg the Mstm.  objects?

Tell me about it. The number of errors I have found in the doco (let alone the software), I should charge them a heap!
